An Inspirational Moment at Graduation

I found this moment at Landmark College Graduation
to be quite inspirational.

Ana Arathoon addressed the attending crowd at
graduation and stated how Landmark College inspired her
to return to her native Guatemala to teach the
disadvantaged children. Tears came to everyone's eyes.
Pictured here is Ana and her entire family
who all flew from South America to support her.

Holiday Portraits

Seminar Time with Fujifilm USA

New England Studio of Keene recently participated in a
Fujifilm USA ‘Capture to Print’ workshop series in Sturbridge Ma. Tom Raffelt and
Tammi Quinn expanded their knowledge base of underclass school photography to
provide area schools with the most up to date photo and computer techniques.
Topics such as bar coded ID cards with the newest Fuji S5 cameras, as well as the
latest capture software were demonstrated at length. New England Studio has been
offering underclass school photography for over 20 years.

Seen in the photos are Tom and Tammi with a Fujifilm Rep and the lower photo
is Tom with Frank Shelly from Natural Color Lab in Stoughton Mass.

Keene High Schools Photo Class made
this photo as their last of 4 classes came in to New England Studio.

By far, this was the toughest shot to accomplish.
Amy did a superb job as our model on
this photo-shoot.

The goal was to highlight Amy's hands with the water
and keep the rest of her dark and blurred
out of focus.

Senior Portrait

Now this nice photo started as a color shot,
we then converted to black and white, then
threw a little color in there, and proceeded to
add some filters and BINGO !

Nothin' to it. Plus it helps to have the right subject.

We are finding that we have an unlimited variety of backgrounds
for our outdoor portraits here in downtown Keene. This, we are discovering, is giving
us much better variety than a traditional outdoor "studio".
The typical outdoor studio tends to be repetitive which is
strictly a function of it's limited backgrounds.

New Passport Rules/Laws

The Bush administration yesterday postponed for at least six months a new security rule that Americans show a passport when crossing U.S. borders by land or by sea, requiring instead that citizens present an identity card and proof of citizenship upon entry for the first time, beginning Jan. 31

Under the change, travelers returning from Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean would no longer be able to make a verbal declaration of U.S. citizenship but would have to present a government-issued photo identification, such as a driver's license or certain "trusted traveler" cards, and a birth certificate.

Children under 16 years of age could present certified copies of birth certificates.

It was a glorious day with full

A Tour of our Color Photo Lab in Boston

OK OK I will be the first to admit this is not the greatest photo in the world!

That being said though, we all attended a workshop at our Photo Processing Lab in Boston yesterday.

Frank Shelly, formerly of Fujifilm USA is shown here explaining the finer points of how they package the photos for UPS. :-)

Honestly though, the emphasis was on new digital products for this year, and we did come away with some great ideas !

New England Studio LLC is now an

The group seems wonderfully active.
